Parents

As I may have stated earlier, I am going to be graduating Indiana University with a BS in Informatics in December of this year. Of course, all of the big graduation stuff is happening now, so it all feels sort of anti-climatic to me. One of the graduation events is the big Informatics banquet this friday. I was not on the list to graduate in May, so I did not know about it until our Assistant Dean invited me to it. I never thought that these academic gatherings/celebrations were important to me, but finally, I am starting to feel like a valued student in Informatics because people want me to attend this event. Magically, it is instantly very important.

This invitation was extended to me on Wednesday at the Senior Capstone fair where I was showcasing my year-long group project, so all of this is very last minute. I called my mom today and told her about it. Mom and Dad are coming to town anyway to help move me to my new apartment. Of course, they both have events to be at the next day, and the banquet is from 6-9PM. I spoke to her a second time today, and THEY ARE COMING!!! I am so happy right now! They will be able to meet my fellow classmates and my professors. Like I said before, I never thought this would be important to me....but now I am TOTALLY looking forward to it.

I have said it before, and I will say it again, I have AMAZING parents.
